Today the National Kidney Registry (NKR) announced that Margaret Voges, RN, has been appointed the Chair of the NKR Operations Committee.
Margaret Voges is the lead Transplant Coordinator for the Kidney Paired Donation program at the University of Minnesota. She obtained a BA in Nursing from the College of St. Catherine in 1989 and has worked in organ transplantation since 1991. In 2004, she became a Transplant Coordinator working with pediatric recipients. In 2008, she was named a Living Donor Coordinator.
As lead Paired Exchange Coordinator since 2010, she is responsible for coordinating care for incompatible pairs and non-directed donors. Her particular interest has been facilitating molecular-level eplet matching at her center.
“I’m thrilled to be the new Chair of the Operations Committee,” Voges said. “I am passionate about improving the living donation process, and this position will enable me to work with other Transplant Coordinators to make change. I enjoy teaching new centers how to navigate the system and working with experienced centers on how to make improvements and utilize new technologies. Ultimately, my goal is to help facilitate great ideas from the network in making our system better.”
“We’re pleased to welcome Margaret to a leadership position on our Operations Committee,” said Ryan Meehan, the NKR’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. “Margaret’s leadership and passion for improving the living donation process will be invaluable in driving our efforts to improve the living donation process and better serve the transplant community.”
