The National Kidney Registry (NKR) is proud to announce the successful completion of its Coronado Regional Training, an educational event for transplant professionals in the San Diego area. The event took place January 9 and 10, 2025, at Hotel del Coronado, Coronado Island, California.

This hands-on training offered an in-depth look at kidney paired donation (KPD) processes, best practices, and strategies for maximizing matching opportunities. Key Highlights of the Event:

  • Training Sessions: Topics included essential areas such as managing KPD processes, compatibility, remote donation, Kidney for Life, the Voucher Program, and strategies for maximizing matching opportunities.
  • Expert Presenters: The training featured leading professionals from the NKR and beyond, including Karen Miller, RN, Margaret Voges, RN, Ashley Aloba, RN, and Suzanne McGuire, RN, who led discussions on real-world KPD case studies, operational insights, the Voucher Program, and patient guidance.
  • Networking Opportunities: Attendees had a chance to connect with peers from transplant centers including Hartford Hospital, UW Health University Hospital, University of Minnesota Medical Center, UC Davis Transplant Center, Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Harbor UCLA Medical Center, UCI Medical Center, Keck Hospital of USC, Duke University Hospital, Sharp Memorial Hospital, UChicago Medicine, and Allina Health.
